Inspiration

The idea for EcoByte came from noticing how much time we spend online—sending emails, streaming videos, storing photos—and realizing that almost nobody considers the environmental impact of these digital habits. While people often focus on plastic, transportation, or home electricity, digital pollution remains invisible. We wanted to create a tool that makes this invisible impact visible and actionable.

What it does

EcoByte is an AI-powered app that estimates the environmental impact of users’ digital habits—like emails, cloud storage, streaming, and screen time—and shows the results in real-world, relatable comparisons. It provides a personalized to-do list with simple actions users can take to reduce their footprint, updating their impact in real time.

How we built it
