EcoBin was inspired by the growing problem of improper waste disposal and the need for smarter, more efficient waste management. We wanted to develop a smart dustbin that could use technology to monitor waste levels and improve the way waste is collected and managed.

We have already prepared a working simulation and prototype concept of EcoBin, including the core circuit design and sensor-based functionality. To demonstrate how the system works, we will also include a Gemini-generated demonstration video showing the smart bin detecting waste and its filling level increasing over time.

At this stage, we have completed the simulation and designed the basic system, but the physical components and hardware implementation are still to be developed. If we get the opportunity to participate in this hackathon, we aim to further improve the design, implement the physical components, enhance the sensors and automation, and turn our simulation into a more complete working prototype.

During the project, we learned about embedded systems, sensors, simulation, system design, and integrating hardware with software. One of our biggest challenges was creating a realistic simulation of how the bin would respond to changing waste levels while keeping the system practical and scalable.

EcoBin is more than just a smart dustbin; it is our attempt to use technology to address a real environmental problem. The hackathon would give us an opportunity to take our existing simulation to the next level and develop EcoBin into a more reliable, practical, and impactful smart waste-management solution.
