an AI powered coach that recognizes objects, provides advice on how to best recycle them. It also shares links that users can click on to get more info about places near them.
Inspiration : In third world countries, recycling is the least of our problems, and the more populated we get, the more recycling we need.
What it does : It guides users to better recylce items, by simply holding an item and asking a simple question like, How can I recycle this ? and it'll identify and suggest best ways to recycle it, recycling centers close by, and even DIY videos.
How we built it : I used Gemini 3 Pro, and Google AI studio
Challenges we ran into : It consumes too many Token, so I noticed that the AI starts analyzing as soon as camera is shared, so it was instantly sharing pictures and trying to act on what it sees, so I decided to add a mic button, and only analyze when a question is asked about an item at hand. In so doing, it generated response faster because it guided the AI to tackle the issue directly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of : I'm proud to have built this, because it was just an Idea that I believe by implementing Moroccan Darija in it, it might help people act responsibly.
What we learned : I learned that we are only limited by our imagination to create.
What's next for ecoach: it is to be tested to test how many tokens it'll cost and see the added value, project greater user base and analyze its greater impact potential. It can be used to establish a recycling system in 3rd world coutries that is efficient and also profitable.
