Eco Tycoon: Build the Future is a mobile-first simulation where players create and manage a futuristic eco-city, balancing profit, energy, and sustainability. The inspiration behind this project comes from my fascination with urban planning and the global need for sustainable development. I wanted to build a world where players can experience the consequences of their decisions on a city’s economy and environment in an interactive and engaging way.
Using Meta Horizon Worlds and GenAI tools, I designed dynamic cityscapes with interactive buildings, resource management systems, and NPCs that simulate real-life urban challenges. The project leverages mesh and texture generation to create visually appealing environments, ambient audio to enhance immersion, and AI-driven NPC behaviors to simulate citizen interactions. Every upgrade in the city has a tangible impact on profits, energy efficiency, and sustainability, encouraging players to think critically about their strategies.
During development, I learned how to integrate GenAI features effectively and how to optimize a mobile-first experience without compromising on interactivity. Challenges included balancing gameplay complexity with accessibility for casual players, as well as creating AI-driven systems that respond realistically to player choices.
Future plans for Eco Tycoon include expanding multiplayer collaboration, adding advanced AI-driven events, and introducing more interactive city management features. My goal is to create a fun yet educational experience that allows players to experiment with sustainability concepts in a risk-free virtual environment while enjoying the strategic depth of a classic tycoon simulation.
