Carbon Footprint
Hefty expensive Carbon footprint calculators costing from 8,000 to 12,000 rupees and also requires 3 hours to calculate carbon footprint, VERY HARD to maintain. 1800000000000(1.8 trillion) pieces of waste is calculated to be in the pacific ocean by National Library Of Medicine. 7.8 mega tonnes is calculated to be present in the form of land waste in Australia by Australian Circular Economic Hub.
## What it does
-Carbon FootPrint Calculator has the ability to calculate 40+ factors to calculate your carbon footprint, It can process your phone's serial number and make out how much carbon emissions it emits. Just from a 15-minute survey and completely free of cost you can easily find your carbon footprint, the website can also recommend how to reduce it(Note:These features are to be added but we know how to add them already).
-Aqua bin uses up and down movement and vortex movements, both to take in garbage from the ocean, it uses a vortex from a spinning motor so that all the items can be taken in, It also moves up and down so that the water gets filtered out due to osmosis, where a liquid moves from Higher Concentration to Lower Concentration. This way it can easily clear up oceans with more than 40 tonnes of waste removed every 10 minutes.
-Terra Bot uses obstacle detection so that it can move around easily without obstructions, it can easily pick huge but light weighted objects, this is why it is perfect for removing land waste. It has wheels and can move around flexibly
## How we built it
-We used inputs from user to calculate carbon footprint like what domestic fuel they're using and then add up their points using an algorithm pre-designed 2 days before the event, we understood how we can code it in the form of Bootstrap carousel and made the survey using HTML forms, we used Javascript so that we could process the user's total carbon footprint score.
-We used 2 9V batteries, a gear motor, 6V recieve motor, wooden Carpented parts and small plastic bucket to make a simplified version and a prototype to how our AquaBin should work, we used the motor in such a setup so that the motor creates a vortex on a water-body's surface and adjusted the bucket to hold the waste, as soon as the ram lifts the bucket up, the water moves away due to the motor and the holes and the waste remains into the bucket due to the spinning motor.
-We used wheels,Quarky,Ultrasonic sensor,Motors,Servos,Plastic Parts to make it, we made a circuit right on top of the wheels and the carboard base on top of the wheels, the circuit allowed the robot to move and the sensors were coded so that it avoids obstacles and then identifies the material needed like plastic or paper, then it moves to sweep it into its bin. We used an automated sweeper so that the movement would be more flexible
## Challenges we ran into
-Carbon FootPrint Calculator-Indexing errors and incompatibility of HTML to collect user data from forms, complexity of JavaScript to make the logic
-Motor being weak and not able to generate enough movement to create a strong vortex and being very heavy
-Complexity and sweeper being too big that it covers the sensors
## Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Making a survey using HTML which has never been done before using just plain JavaScript and no other libraries at all.
-Being able to adjust the ram to just carpented wooden parts and stability of the bucket
-Making the wheels very flexible
-Working an all-nighter until 12:00 clock in a Saturday to accomplish few goals.
