I## 🌱 Inspiration
Agriculture is the backbone of our country, yet farmers often face major losses after harvest due to inefficient transportation, poor market access, and lack of real-time data.
While studying agricultural engineering, we observed that shallots (small onions) are highly perishable and sensitive to delays in transport. This inspired us to create an eco-friendly solution that not only improves logistics but also reduces environmental impact.
💡 What it does
Eco Shallot is a sustainable supply chain model that optimizes the marketing and transportation of shallots. It focuses on:
- Reducing post-harvest losses
- Optimizing transport routes to save fuel
- Connecting farmers directly to markets
- Minimizing carbon emissions
The system ensures that produce reaches markets faster, fresher, and with lower environmental impact.
⚙️ How we built it
We designed the project as a smart system combining agricultural knowledge with basic data-driven concepts:
- Developed a logistics optimization model for transport routes
- Created a conceptual framework for farmer-to-market linkage
- Incorporated sustainability analysis to reduce fuel usage and emissions
The efficiency of transportation can be represented as:
$$ Efficiency = \frac{Useful Output}{Total Input} $$
By minimizing unnecessary transport distance, we improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.
