Inspiration

Seeing the increase in food waste coupled with a lack of education regarding cooking and healthy habits, we decided to create an App that will scan products (new/old) and propose to us easy-to-make recipes.

What it does

EcoEats has 3 main features: Scan option: Scan food items and then generate recipes -Browse Option: The user has access to a list of recipes and simply scrolls through them. -TinderFood: Tinder-style food browsing. In this section, the user simply clicks right to save recipes or left to skip the recipe.

How we built it

We created a sample sized dataset and trained it, so our can scan ingredients and recognize them. Next, we used SwiftUi to complete both of the frontend and backend

Challenges we ran into

-Training the data model to incorporate a diverse range of ingredients, enhancing our recipe selection. -Connecting the frontend to the backend (SwiftUI & Storyboard). -Developing accurate real-time food recognition.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Food recognition in real time. -Completing the frontend -Creating a small dataset and training it -Providing a correct output (recipe)

What we learned

How to use Swift for the first time TeamWork ML -Completing Front-End for Mobile App -Creating our dataset What's next for Eco We hope to use Gemini API or OpenAI to generate recipe more efficiently Adding more cultural recipes Partnersh ips with local grocery stores
