Inspiration
There is an article on environmental consciousness and how to make eco-friendly decisions. The most effective way for people to understand and to follow this information was through an interactive story game.
What it does
The game itself is very simple. We follow our main character, Robin, as they go through their day and make environmentally-challenged decisions. The concept is to help educate all ages on their social responsibility.
How it was built
We used Unity for the game development and C# as the basic code language.
Challenges we ran into
There were a lot of challenges, one of which was time. The fact that this game was finished with three people in varying timezones within two days is an amazing feat. Moreover, none of us were experienced in Unity but we rose to the challenge and conquered most miscommunication. In general, it was very difficult to collaborate. So, we decided to divide the work and to complete it at a given time so that the final product could be a combined effort.
What we learned
- Game development using Unity.
- Working with people from different parts of the world.
- Learning about different cultures around the world.
What's next for Eco-Lingo
In future updates, our team will introduce cross-platforming with IOS and Android so we can target a larger demographic. We would also like to add more storylines so that our audience can relate to these decisions and, hopefully, become more environmentally conscious.
