Inspiration
We were partly inspired by the current conservation crisis in the colorado river basin, not wanting a similar thing to happen to Michigan's natural resources we were inspired to create a solution to help policymakers and conservation professionals make more informed decisions on how to manage Michigan's natural resources and protect Michigan's most important resources.
What it does
Our app allows those who manage Michigan's natural resources to simulate events like resource allocation and receive detailed feedback on how those decisions could affect the Michigan ecosystem.
How we built it
We used PowerPoint to make a mock of our UI and data flow, we then used Wix to get our solution to the web, and Excel was used to create the graphs.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to communicate our ideas with the group at points the simulation page was very challenging. When we started to collaborate on the whiteboard our different perspectives began to take shape and it became easy to visualize what the simulation page would look like Another challenge we faced was coming up with a good concept and how to execute that idea we spent a lot of time discussing and researching, and a big part of this project was spent looking at how other apps accomplished similar problems.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Showing up and creating a project in a limited amount of time. Mohid: The creation of the UI of the web application
What we learned
How to research and present a style guide and community ideas to our group members. There are a lot of steps that go into planning and brainstorming before any code is written.
What's next for Eco-Life
Our next step would be putting our solution into code and deploying it
