Inspiration

Our inspiration came from learning about renewable energy and the environmental problems caused by using fossil fuels. We also noticed that some remote communities struggle to access reliable and affordable electricity. This inspired us to create a project that uses natural energy sources, such as wind and sunlight, to generate electricity and produce light.

What it does

Our project uses 2 renewable energy, sunlight and wind that is converted to light energy . The solar panel converts sunlight into electrical energy to power one of the light, while the wind turbine uses wind to generate electricity to power another light. Our prototype demonstrates how renewable energy can be used to provide light energy in classrooms and reduce usage on non-renewable energy sources.

How we built it

First we gathered all the materials needed. We mostly use recyclable materials that we have. We then assembled the solar panels, connect it wires and the light. Next, we built the wind turbine and connected its generator to another light.

Challenges we ran into

We initially planned to use the mechanical energy produced by opening and closing a door to generate electricity. However, after considering the idea, we realized that the movement of the door might not produce enough energy to power a light effectively. Therefore, we decided to explore alternative renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, which could provide a more practical way to generate electricity for our project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have successfully completed a working prototype that combines two renewable energy sources: wind and solar power. We are also proud to have worked together as a team to turn our idea into a real prototype.

What we learned

We learned how to manage our time while working on this project. Throughout the process, we faced several challenges, especially balancing our project responsibilities with our schoolwork. However, despite these challenges, we worked together, managed our time, and successfully completed both our prototype and our school assignments.

What's next for ECO Green School

In the future, we hope to improve our prototype by making the wind turbine more efficient and adding a rechargeable battery to store electricity for later use. We also want to test different wind speeds and sunlight intensities to find out which conditions produce the most electricity. Eventually, we hope to develop our idea further and demonstrate how renewable energy could help create more sustainable and environmentally friendly schools.
