cool game

What it does

The app allows users to check events that are happening near them and give them a chance to volunteer in these. The events are focused on community service and environment protection. The users have the option to see how long an event is and gain points based on the duration of each event they complete.

How we built it

We used Python for the backend code such as establishing the user profile, XP, and the different badges they can earn. We used Gemini to help create the Delphin Mascot and format it so that it fits with the Frutiger Aero theme. UNC Prompt Lab ChatGPT helped clarify how to separate the different portions of the app into classes. We then modified this and made some variables global to ensure factors such as XP are only added if the user actually completes an event.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was incorporating Solana into the app because we weren't experienced in adding Solana to work with the backend Python code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud of connecting the backend code to the front-end display. We were able to use our coding knowledge with Python to put our ideas into code. We then were able to put that into a readable front-end format following the Frutiger Aero theme.

What we learned

We learned how to separate different parts of the app into simple sections in the Python code and also define different methods for the sections.

What's next for eco game

Next steps for EcoQuest are adding more rewards and also pushing it out to certain schools and local communities so that they can help spread the information out to help people volunteer. Additionally, this will allow EcoQuest to also be a messaging style app which allows volunteers to quickly contact the event coordinators if they have questions or concerns.
