Inspiration

One of our members Avory had disputes with her mom about buying too many clothes. While trying to come up with an interesting and original idea for this hackathon, Avory sparked this idea in her head. As a group, we discussed how the fashion industry has had an immense impact on our environment. A pertinent problem in today's society, that has not been talked about very much. As a society, we need to change and come up with solutions to this horrifying dilemma. Starting with a simple item we all have our closets and clothes.

What it does

Eco Closet, a mobile app designed to combat overconsumption. This app will help you stay organized and productive, help you track your apparel and keep you aware of your consumer consumption. Keeping organized will help users save time by not looking for items, but rather spend that time on other important tasks. Having an app with all your closets information could help out when it's time for a trip to the mall, or when you are away from home! It can tell you which area you need to get more items or stop buying and take action on the donate and recycle slide on this app. Since the global pandemic, online shopping has boomed and increased by millions. It's hard to keep track of how much of your own and with Eco Closet, you can do just about anything to keep track of your clothing items.

How we built it

We used Figma to create the prototype for this mobile app project. We then used Google to help research for this project and to help us import images for the app.

Challenges we ran into

As a group, we had trouble using Figma since we have never used the application before! Also, we had a lot of changes with our Team with members leaving or not contributing to the group. But as a group of 3, we were able to persevere and combat these challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to complete the Figma prototype and finishing our slide deck this weekend. Attempting a new application is difficult enough, but creating and completing a project is a new level of accomplishment. We are very proud to submit this.

What we learned

Along this journey, we learned about the Figma creating and prototype process. We acquired the skills needed in a limited amount of time and we were able to create an impactful project. But most importantly, we learned about the teamwork process. Commitment, communication and cooperation are needed to successfully work as a team.

What's next for Eco Closet

Eco Closet is not limited to just your wardrobe. We plan to allow any types of photos such as furniture, decoration, and more! We plan to include Visual AI to improve the User Experience of our users. Our app will become very accurate and precise with its camera and AI features. Eco Closet plans to reach many countries and impact many people in this generation. Eco Closet is excited to see its growth in the future and we hope we can make a change in this world.
