Inspiration

Personal experience: My own experiences with commuting and carpooling.I have struggled to find a carpooling partner and wished there was an easier way to coordinate rides with others?

Environmental concerns: Considering the impact of single-occupancy vehicle use on the environment. Carpooling can help to reduce carbon emissions and protect the planet. Some of the key environmental benefits of carpooling has highlighted on the platform.

Social connections: Think about the social aspect of carpooling. The platform can facilitate connections and relationships between users who carpool together. Carpooling can provide opportunities for socializing and networking.

Cost savings: Cost is also saved with it.

What it does

It asks user about source and destination and tries to find matches considering timing constraints.It also helps in knowing how your actions have helped reduce emissions.

How we built it

Landing Page:- Used Velo by wix to build it and sent post request to API endpoint from form. Backend:- Used MongoDb to store data and show charts dashboard. And Express for endpoints. Frontend:- Used React for client and Auth0 for authentication. Domain: from goDaddy.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Connecting database to velo is a hassle and had to make a custom backend for it.
  2. Deployment at last minute.
  3. Going around paid things which require upgrade in velo.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Integration of data in dashboard and authentication.

What we learned

  1. Used low-code builder like velo for first time.
  2. Used Auth0 for the first time.

What's next for Eco Carpools

  1. User profiles.
  2. Chatting between poolers.
  3. Connecting Taxi services.
