Inspiration
We wanted to incorporate finance and the environment into our creation. Seeing information represented in multiple ways has proven to be a good teaching method. We kept this in mind when designing our Eco Calculator website.
What it does
The Eco Calculator translates a donation value into various other environmental representations including the number of trees that can be planted, and the carbon dioxide emissions. The website is also informative about how climate change is progressing, and features various recommended organizations in which to donate.
How we built it
We collaborated using GitHub and created the website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
Our team lacked a lot of experience in web development including two members who were doing this for the first time and one inexperienced team member.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite our inexperience, we became more familiar with the process of web development. In addition, we expanded our knowledge involving the progression of climate change and how we can help.
What's next for Eco Calculator
With more practice, we will definitely be able to add many more features to the website, such as allowing users to calculate their own carbon footprint, and even allow for users to make donations through the site.
