EchoVerse

Inspiration

Our project was inspired by the concept that teaching others enhances one's own knowledge. This principle guided us to create an app that facilitates learning through teaching, allowing users to solidify their understanding of subjects by explaining them aloud.

What it does

Our app utilizes GEMINI AI to scan texts from research papers, journals, and other materials. It summarizes the content and enables users to test their knowledge by recording their voice as they explain the material. After recording, GEMINI AI analyzes the spoken content against the summarized text to evaluate the user's understanding and retention of the information.

How we built it

We developed the app using Flutter, leveraging several packages including:

Camera for capturing images of text.

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for converting images to text.
Google Generative AI for summarization and analysis.
Text-to-Speech functionalities to enhance user interaction.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout the development process, we faced several challenges: Creative Block: We encountered periods where ideas were scarce. Fatigue: The intensive work took a toll on our energy levels. Time Pressure: The tight timeline of the competition added stress and urgency.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully integrating multiple AI technologies into a cohesive app. Creating a user-friendly interface that enhances learning experiences. Receiving positive feedback from initial user testing on app functionality.

What we learned

Iterative testing played a crucial role in our success, as regular feedback enabled us to refine features effectively. Collaboration proved to be equally important, as working together allowed us to overcome challenges more efficiently. Lastly, effective time management was essential in a competitive environment, as balancing tasks helped us stay focused and maintain our progress.

What's next for EchoVerse

Moving forward, we plan to implement features for voice sharing and support for all dialects in the Philippines, making our app more inclusive and accessible to diverse users.
