🌀 Echoes of the Puzzle Wardens

A remixable puzzle adventure built for the Open Source Champions competition

🌟 Inspiration

"Every puzzle leaves behind an echo…"

We set out to create a puzzle adventure that feels timeless and mysterious, inspired by:

  • 🏰 Escape rooms → layered challenges & hidden secrets
  • 🔮 Rune-like symbols → mysticism & legacy
  • 🤝 Open source spirit → a puzzle world meant to be remixed

🧩 What It Does

Echoes of the Puzzle Wardens is a remixable world where:

  1. 🗝️ Players solve ancient puzzles left by the Wardens
  2. 🌀 They Clone → Remix → Publish the world
  3. 📜 Their remix becomes a new echo in the growing puzzle universe

🛠️ How We Built It

  • 🏗️ Created in Horizon Worlds
  • 🎨 Custom 3D assets with an ancient aesthetic
  • ⚡ Modular puzzle mechanics + scripts for easy remixing
  • 🔊 Immersive sound design & lighting to deepen atmosphere
  • 📱 Optimized for both VR and mobile

⚔️ Challenges We Faced

  • ⚖️ Balancing puzzle difficulty (fun but accessible)
  • 🧱 Building mechanics that remain stable when remixed
  • 🎨 Creating an “ancient” look while keeping performance optimized
  • 📢 Teaching players about the Remix mechanic inside the world

  • 🧩 Designed puzzles blending storytelling & mechanics
  • 🪶 Created custom Nordic-inspired symbols for Clone / Remix / Publish
