Inspiration
We began brainstorming around entertainment and realized nothing captivates people today more than social media: endless content, fun, and emotion in a few swipes. For this hackathon we focused on audio and music—also deeply entertaining—and at their intersection created “Echoes,” an audio‑based social network. We believe everyone deserves a space to share their voice and explore creativity through sound.
What It Does
Echoes lets users post audio messages of any length—meditations, songs, stand‑up, podcasts, life updates, you name it. Built‑in voice effects make sharing playful and engaging, while daily challenges (e.g., “use a robotic voice”) spark creativity and community.
Key features:
Personalized feed with an integrated player
Echo button to amplify posts that resonate
Mood filters and interest tags for tailored discovery
Follow creators and friends to catch new uploads
How We Built It
After shaping the concept together, we split tasks: one teammate designed the web service, the other implemented core functionality.
Challenges
The scope proved ambitious for the hackathon timeframe, so we delivered a proof of concept plus full designs of several main pages (see Figma).
Accomplishments
First‑time browser audio work: recording, applying voice effects, and playback
Clean, intuitive UI that makes audio sharing feel fun and accessible
