Inspiration
Relationships are all about communication. Growing up in a non-emotional family, I found it hard to communicate openly in dating as an adult. I’ve been working on being more mindful in my communication style with loved ones, and I thought this app could help others who might struggle with the same thing. EchoDate aims to make dating easier by improving how people connect through better communication.
What it does
EchoDate listens to conversations, gives real-time feedback on conversation flow, and creates a post-date (or can be a post-argument haha) recap to highlight shared moments and communication insights.
How we built it
We used Omi’s audio capture and transcription to analyze conversations in real time. The app organizes key moments into a “Date Recap” for users to review after their dates.
Challenges we ran into
It was tricky to keep the feedback simple and non-intrusive. Ensuring accuracy in audio transcription, especially with background noise, was also a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating an app that gives useful communication tips without overwhelming the user. The “Date Recap” feature feels personal and valuable.
What we learned
We learned a lot about real-time audio processing, managing background noise, and refining feedback so it feels helpful, not critical.
What's next for EchoDate
We plan to add a matching feature based on communication styles and build integrations with social apps to make setting up dates/meeting new people easier.
