Inspiration
Scammers have learned to copy their relatives' voices in just 3 seconds. So i decided that I need to find a way to prevent It . I was inspired to create EchoCheck after seeing how easily vulnerable populations, especially the elderly, fall victim to these "emergency" calls because they trust the voice on the other end. My goal is to return that trust to the users, not the scammers.
What it does
EchoCheck is a specialized web tool designed to identify AI-generated voice clones. Users can either upload an audio file (from WhatsApp, Telegram, or recordings) or record a suspicious call in real-time. The app analyzes the audio for "digital artifacts," unnatural rhythmic patterns, and the absence of human-like breathing—elements that AI often fails to replicate perfectly. It then provides a clear "Safe" or "AI Detected" verdict along with actionable safety steps.
How we built it
I used Figma to create the prototype, accessible interface. The prototype is built around the concept of spectral analysis, comparing unique voice "fingerprints" against known AI model signatures.
Challenges we ran into
The challenge I ran into is to make the interface clear and easy to understand. I had to iterate on the UI multiple times to ensure the "Upload" and "Record" functions were unmistakable and that the final verdict was bold and easy to understand even at a glance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a high-fidelity interactive prototype in Figma that visualizes the entire user journey, from initial suspicion to a clear security verdict.
What we learned
I learned that in cybersecurity, the human element is just as important as the code .A tool is only effective if the user feels safe enough to use it. I also gained deep insights into how AI voice models operate and where their current "tells" or weaknesses lie.
What's next for EchoCheck
Maybe developing a "one-click" verification button for popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram to download audios easier. Partnering with developers to turn this Figma prototype into a functional web application using audio analysis APIs.
