Inspiration
"Our application bridges the communication gap between generations in immigrant families, enabling real-time conversations across languages. Designed for families where the older generation speaks their native language and the younger generation struggles with understanding it, our app uses Google Meet or any other video platform and virtual audio routing to translate spoken words in real-time.
What it does
Our app allows for real time communication and accurate language translation to a variety of different languages.
How we built it
We used python as well as multiple command prompts that changed how audio input and output were routed as well as used google cloud API services to provide us accurate models.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing audio channel input and output we were able to overcome this and hope that we can make the process even more streamlined in the future. As well as accessing APIs and credentials
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Real time translation service with minimal lag.
What we learned
Google cloud, creating virtual sinks, python API requests, electron-js.
What's next for Echo
Implement it on multiple machines to connect it to traditional cell phone calls. Increase number of languages used. Make it two way functional
