Inspiration

We noticed many people struggle with speaking confidently—whether it's during interviews, presentations, or everyday conversations. We wanted to create something that helps users improve their speech in real time, just like a personal coach—but smarter and more accessible.

What it does

Echo Ally is an AI-powered speech coach that gives instant feedback on tone, clarity, pace, and more. It also lets users practice with an intelligent assistant that simulates real conversations—helping them improve both delivery and confidence.

How we built it

We used React for the frontend and Node.js with Express for the backend. Speech recognition and analysis were powered by Google Speech-to-Text API and OpenAI for conversation simulations. We used MongoDB for user data and performance tracking, and deployed the project on Render and Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

Real-time audio processing and accurate feedback were technically demanding. Fine-tuning the conversation experience to feel natural was another major challenge.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate speech technologies with AI to deliver actionable feedback. We also gained valuable insight into creating smooth, humanlike conversational experiences.
