Inspiration

A problem in today's healthcare systems is the lack of control of patient data and access to patient data by the patient. The lack of control and ease of access delays the patient care and is a missed opportunity in patient data analysis that benefits the patient. Blockchain provides the infrastructure allowing the patient to control their data in a secure and trusted manner, thus the inception of EC_net. The use case for this project is a patient who is tested regularly for COVID-19 and needs to share their test result and health history.

What it does

EC_net allows a patient to add their data to the network and send it to a desired entity or entities. This is implemented using a NFT referred herein as a health token containing the patient's health data using ERC721 contract. The patient health history report is stored using IPFS and is referred to on-chain by hash.

How we built it

The build of EC_net incorporates solidity smart contracts, ERC721 and IPFS.

Challenges we ran into

Constructing the smart contract and the logic necessary for keeping track of the health token and the number of associated test results and incorporating IPFS.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Attempting to create and execute a blockchain contract incorporating NFTs

What we learned

There's lots of room for growth and learning ahead to forage a path in blockchain.

What's next for EC_net

Given more time EC_net needs to address allowing the patient to control identifiable and de-identifiable characteristics.
