Inspiration

Eatclusive takes inspiration from a story of wanting to feed the hungry and develop technology to help automate the various tasks to service food deserts.

What it does

Eatclusive is a mobile app as well as a physical location that prioritizes the fair distribution of fresh produce. Through the data we collect from the Eatclusive consumers, it finds the most optimal location for a produce vending machine that can service the exact needs of a community as well as reduce waste.

How we built it

Eatclusive is a full stack architecture with a front end mobile app, built by React-native, a backend that parses the consumers locations using K-means and Mean shift algorithms, and lastly there is the physical location to pick up the produce using a login information. All three sections use Firebase to store, read, and modify users data to ensure customers are fairly.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a huge issue with Firebase due to the lack of documentation. We had trouble finding modeling methods to predict the best locations for the vending machines, so we ended up with K Means and Mean Shift algorithms. We ran into a 5 hour debugging journey to fix python and the operating systems on the raspberry pi and integrating the Firebase.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Connecting all of our dynamic systems to the Firebase Cloud Firestore.
  2. Being able to touch frontend, backend, software, and hardware.
  3. Learning a diverse range of tools, and technologies.

What we learned

We learn to work as a team and learn how to debug integration for multiple different tech stacks such as raspberry pi hardware, a front end, and the backend.

What's next for Eatclusive

Eatclusive has a ambitious and very hard working team that is interested in further developing the product and potentially getting investors.
