Inspiration
As a group of friends who constantly struggle with deciding where to eat, it seemed natural to create an app that helps in our meal planning and also recommends new, exciting establishments to visit.
What it does
EatGood is an app that solves the problem of deciding where a group should eat by collecting information from event guests and narrowing down nearby choices to a single option. Users also have profiles that track restaurants they have and haven’t been, allowing them to indicate whether they would like to visit a new establishment. Event guests provide the app with information such as their price range and dietary restrictions, after which a single option is provided to the group. Those unsatisfied with the app’s decision are able to influence the decision via a veto system.
Challenges we ran into
Many apps accomplish a similar task to EatGood; however, to our knowledge, no app exists that analyzes a users history to recommend them new restaurants. We overcame this challenge by focusing on a specific problem that no other app solves. Furthermore, the time constraint placed on the group limited the time we had to refine our ideas, instead forcing us to think of new features on the fly.
