Inspiration
People rely on medication to help make themselves feel better from ailments. However, the average person waits approximately 45 minutes to receive their prescribed medication. With the demand for prescribed medications increasing yearly there isn’t an efficient method to cut down wait times. Pharmacists spend a large amount of time deciphering a doctor’s handwriting, along with creating the right dosages for each patient. In the modern era, sick people need to have a system that is best designed for their schedule. That’s why we created an application that allows for doctors, pharmacists, and patients to become an efficient trifecta.
What it does
EASYPILLZ is an integrated system in which doctors, pharmacists, and patients use the interactive user interface to create an efficient system. -Doctors can log into their account to prescribe medication for the patient using typed notes and not hand-written, this allows for legible writing -Prescriptions will be instantly transferred to the patient’s account ID number, saves paper as it is all digitalized -Patients can select what day and time to walk-in to pick up their prescribed medication at their pharmacy of choice, convenient with the patient’s schedule -Pharmacists have time to prepare the prescriptions beforehand, allows for them to not be rushed as they are alerted of pick up in advance *All doctors and pharmacists are screened in order to validate their credentials.
How we built it
This application was built by utilising the coding language of Python. The application design was created using the BiznessAPPS software.
Challenges we ran into
As first-time coders we had no experience in any scripting language before, so it was our first-time using Python. In addition, we went through many application software design builders as we did not understand which one would be optimal for our goal.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that this was the first hackathon any of the group members participated in. In addition, we are very passionate about healthcare, so we are glad that we could create an application that aids in this category.
What we learned
We learned the basic of Python along with using PyCharm. Furthermore, we used BiznessAPPS which was the first design builder application any of us have used before. Overall, collectively we learned many new things in the world of coding and applications.
What's next for EASYPILLZ
The next step for EASYPILLZ is to integrate a payment method in which the patient is able to pay for the prescription before they get to the pharmacy. Another step could be to have an option to bill the insurance company directly from the pharmacist's end.
