Inspiration
I have many friends around the world with disabilities - some of whom have more severe disabilities than my own. I see them struggling to be independent in everyday life, such as when going out into nature and when traveling around the world. And even when they encounter barriers, they do not give up, they continue to try and try again until they succeed. This is how I, too, educate my children - the secret of success is to try!! Once or twice - even fifty times, until we finally succeed!!
How we built it
As someone who works and volunteers in the field of beach and park accessibility, I recognized this as a need that has no current solution. This despite the fact that it can be solved in a simple and inexpensive manner; it is just a matter of desire, sensitivity and awareness. The important thing is the idea!! And that people, parks, architects and designers will adopt the idea and implement it for the benefit of all in Japan, Israel and all over the world.
Challenges we ran into
I wanted to find a Japanese partner for the execution, but unfortunately, I did not find one. However, I did find friends in Israel who got excited about the idea and helped me create the presentation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the limited timeframe, with the help of my friends, I was able to produce what is, in my mind, a very professional and serious demo video. That is with the exception of the scenes I appeared in, which I'm sorry to say, came out a little sloppy due to lack of sleep.
What we learned
Lack of accessibility is not a matter of fate - there are always innovative solutions. With creative thinking, sensitivity and help from friends, we can make the world a more accessible place for all of us!
What's next for EasyCamp by Golan Lax & Lior Ben Ami
I hope that we will be able to spread the idea to a wide range of private and governmental bodies in Israel, Japan and all over the world, and I hope we will all be able to next year at a campsite instead of on Zoom ....
