Inspiration

As a first year university student living abroad, I visit banks quite frequently. And this allows me to observe a lot during my ten minutes — sometimes twenty, or more — wait, it allows me to realize how great the cyber crime and scam pandemic is and how the elderly are the primary victims of its terror. I came to see how the minority within the community were disregarded. How their concerns and needs were not considered and how pernicious these systems were to them.

Waiting in the line may trouble my feet for the while, but it devastates the elderly twice as much. The small fonts and new systems confuse them. They struggle using bank applications and their financial literacy is constantly tested. Many times the apps are misleading and scams prevail.

I volunteered to help one such confused senior, only to listen to his valid complaints about the insensate system. And figured that there were not many banks that worked for their comfort and interest.

The inspiration for Easy Trust stemmed from a commitment to enhancing financial literacy and security among older adults, recognizing that many face challenges navigating modern banking systems. Volunteering with seniors revealed their need for accessible tools and support, driving the creation of an app that empowers them through education, community engagement, and personalized assistance, ensuring they can manage their finances confidently and safely.

What it does

Easy Trust is a banking application adapted specifically for elderly persons, and therefore has an easy-to-use design, use of voice, customization of screens, precautions against possible frauds, learning materials, and social interaction among users. It enables the users to take control of their finances in a secure manner and promotes the understanding of finances.

An Easy to Use Banking Application for the Elderly. It has large buttons, voice-enabled control, customized dashboards as well as a fraud alert system and educative materials to ease the users in controlling their finances. It supports users to help them control their finances in a safe manner and also encourages other learning and interactions among the users.

With oversized icons and clear text, navigating the app feels like a leisurely stroll in the park—no more squinting at tiny buttons or getting lost in a maze of options! And for those who prefer to talk rather than type, our voice navigation feature is ready to chat! Just say what you need, and voila, the app responds—no typing required!

A dashboard that gives you a friendly wave and a summary of your finances. You’ll see your balances, upcoming bills, and even set alerts for those big transactions. It’s all about keeping you in the loop without any confusion.

Real-time fraud alerts keep you informed of any unusual activity, and our trusted contacts feature means you can easily call a family member for help if something seems off.

Educational Resources section is a treasure trove of simple guides and videos that demystify common scams. Interactive tutorials and live chat support, will ensure you feel confident using the app.

Local Workshops where you can learn about finances while making new friends—to create a safe community. Plus, our peer-to-peer advice feature lets you share tips and tricks with fellow users, creating a supportive network where everyone thrives.

How we built it

As a new programmer, who only codes for interest, I coded using flutter which uses the language of dart. I managed to code the primary functions that I wanted on my application. However, I was not able to develop it/ design it as I pleased, for this app is quite convoluted and performs endless series of functions, some of which require permissions from national banks.

Challenges we ran into

I was not able to program my ideas into a proper website or application, unfortunately due to my underdeveloped skills in coding. Which is quite a shame, as I was unable to add many important features into the code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Regardless, I am proud that I was able to channel the crucifix of Easy Trust into a legible code. Though it can be improvised. I am proud that my weeks of efforts, to learning to code and furnishing the idea into the user-friendly distinguished software it is, have paid off.

What we learned

I learned about the struggles of many people and how easily they are diminished. I learned about more codes.

What's next for Easy Trust

I hope to be able to develop this application into a revolutionary bank application that it has the potential to be.
