Inspiration

Our inspiration came when we realized how many of our classmates wanted to start a business and become entrepreneurs. 61% of students expect to start a business right out of college. We decided that we needed to create a website that allowed students to be creative and pursue their admirations. The Easy Starter website allows students to manage their startup easily and grow their business effectively.

What it does

The Easy Starter website includes a networking forum that allows different small business owners to collaborate, share helpful information, support each other, and build an effective relationship. The task list allows business owners to manage and organize their tasks. There is a chrome extension that you can download which allows you to access all of your social media accounts in one place, so you can stay updated in every platform. The financial part of the website which allows users to calculate and better manage their finances for their business along with a feature to help them manage their time wisely to increase their productivity levels. The sample website allows a person to see what they should put on their own website and give them some ideas about the type of information that they should include.

How we built it

We built the Easy Starter website with all of its sub features and helpful resources by using a variety of resources and languages. We built the network forum and task list using html, css, and javascript with an editor. The marketing chrome extension used html, css, javascript, and json. The financial part used MIT app inventor with a front end that was for designing and the back end was block code. The small feature that helps manage time was built using a cloud website which had built in timers that connected to our program. The logo for our Easy Starter website was made using a logo marker and putting up some designs with our color scheme that was warm colors. The main Easy Starter website was made using nicepage and including pictures, descriptions, our vision, and ways to contact us. This website was made using mainly html as well as css and javascript. The sample website was made with the same program and languages.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges because most of us were not comfortable with html and css but using many youtube tutorials we got the hang of it. It was hard to stay focused on what we were doing because we got tired very quickly but we had a goal to accomplish. Not being altogether to motivate each other was another difficult aspect this year. Although there were many times where our programs and websites had glitches and were not working we spent a while trying to debug them. We did enjoy our process and by the end we were all working hard and super focused.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are glad that we made so many features and resources and that our vision to help our fellow classmates came together. Having so many helpful tools in one place is very refreshing and other entrepreneurs have a much easier time starting and growing their businesses. We believe that this website is necessary and super easy to use. Using 3 languages and a variety of programs for this 2 day hackathon is something that we are proud of as well.

What we learned

We learned that working together is important and that we need to keep each other motivated, accountable, and focused. Each of us grew individually and together by learning about these programs and improving and implementing our knowledge on html, css, and javascript. We will all carry this knowledge into our next project and it was really fun to bond with everyone.

What's next for Easy Starter

For Easy Starter we want to collaborate with other people to expand upon our features and programs. We want to take surveys of those that have used the website and see what their ideas are on how to improve upon it. We also want people to reach out to us and that we can offer subscriptions for using our very helpful features. Speaking to professionals and big corporation CEOs will also help us see what Easy Starter needs to help small businesses grow further.
