Inspiration

It has been difficult for some students to transition from an in-person classroom to a virtual one. This being said there are additional challenges faced by students with disabilities.

What it does

Easy E-learning seeks to address challenges facing students that are hearing impaired, or visually impaired who can use TalkBack feature which is already enabled in their phones to navigate to the following features:

1.Conversion of pdf, learning material, assignment into a friendly font 2.Audio recording or pdf to audio for visually impaired students 3.Speech to Text feature for taking notes. We also provided an option to save the pdfs. 4.Students can connect with a counsellor easily and seek advice on study related issues and other problems they might be facing in online classes 5.Resources section leads students to useful resources to help them in studies

How I built it

Learn Aid is a mobile app built using Flutter. Flutter is a cross platform development framework which allows us to design apps for both android and iOS with just one codebase. ' Easy E-Learning' has a simple UI and size of icons/text has been increased to make it more accessible.

Challenges I ran into

I mostly had challenges in debugging the code and finding the right packages to add features.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I able to add most of the features that we envisioned for the app during ideation. I can able to help the student with disabilities. This is helpful for our classmates too.

What I learned

We learned about some of the issues that students with disabilities are facing in their day-to day student life in these tough times. This includes that accommodations that were made for students with disabilities in a face to face learning environment had to be revisited when classrooms shifted to being online. I was also able to expand our knowledge of the pub.dev library by researching which packages I needed to add features to 'Easy E-Learning' app.

What's next for Easy E-Learning

This would include some research to understand the challenges these students face that are currently not being addressed with the use of technology.
