Inspiration
Weather apps tell you the forecast for your city. We wanted an almanac for the exact spot you are standing on: when the light turns gold, what the moon is doing tonight, and whether the sky is worth going outside for.
What it does
- Solar: sunrise, solar noon, sunset, golden hour and blue hour to the minute, for your coordinates, not your city. How much daylight you have and what comes next.
- Lunar: tonight's moon phase, how lit it is, and the next full and new moon.
- Earth: where you are in the season, air quality nearby.
- Sky: a stargazing score from live cloud cover and moonlight, which planets are up, ISS passes predicted from its real orbital elements (Celestrak), and space weather.
- Food: what is in season near you.
- Sky Alerts: a quiet heads-up before a full moon, a new moon, a solstice or golden hour.
The sun, moon and planet maths runs on the phone. No account, no tracking, and it keeps working with no signal.
How it makes money
- No subscription, no ads. Everything unlocks with one payment, and you pick the price: three non-consumables ($2.99, $5.99, $9.99) on one
completeentitlement. - The purchase sheet is built from the
ladderRevenueCat offering; purchase, restore and entitlement checks run through the RevenueCat SDK. - Pay-what-you-want is treated as a price ladder, not a tip jar: every tier gets the same features, so the choice measures what people think the app is worth.
How we built it
Capacitor 8, Vue 3 and TypeScript with the RevenueCat Capacitor SDK. Solar position, lunar phase, planet positions and twilight angles are computed on device; weather, space weather and ISS orbital elements are fetched only when online.
Challenges
ISS passes are only worth showing when they are real: the station has to be sunlit while your sky is dark. Getting that right from raw orbital elements, on the phone, was the hardest part.
What's next
A golden hour widget, Android, and a web version with RevenueCat Web Billing.
