Inspiration

During an earthquake, one needs to worry about one's safety at the same time one's escape route. What if there is a household system that creates the most optimal post-earthquake situation.

What it does

The household UX system provides an optimal situation for the people in the house post-earthquake. The door automatically unlocks to ensure an escape route in case the door frame gets destroyed. When the ceiling collapses, it sends a report to alert that people are trapped inside. It keeps the radio running during an earthquake to provide the latest information. It lights up lighting automatically when the electricity is cut off.

How we built it

We obtain real-time earthquake information and send it to a central system in the home. The home then alerts the other parts like the door and radio, etc.

Challenges we ran into

Hard connecting to the wifi to do research online. It was challenging to set up a remote database, so we directed the people-trapped alert to Twitter instead,

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We had members with limited experiences, but we helped each other and came through.

What we learned

Keep on trying without giving up.
