Inspiration
Mental health affects 1 in 4 people globally, yet many face barriers like cost, stigma, or lack of access. I wanted to create something simple, private, and empowering—a tool I could offer anyone to check in with themselves and feel supported.
What it does
MindfulCheck is like a personal mental wellness companion. It helps you track your mood, journal your thoughts, practice calming exercises, and even access crisis support if needed. With streaks, progress visuals, and small achievements, it encourages self-care in a way that’s engaging, supportive, and non-judgmental.
How I built it
Built using vanilla JavaScript, responsive CSS, and local storage, I made sure everything stays on the user’s device—no accounts, no tracking, no data leaks. Accessibility was key: I included screen reader support, high-contrast mode, and keyboard-friendly navigation to ensure anyone can use it.
Challenges I ran into
Keeping everything private while still giving meaningful insights
Accomplishments that I am proud of
A fully functional, offline-ready wellness companion Integrated evidence-based exercises for quick stress relief A mood tracker and journaling system that feels personal and intuitive A beautiful, accessible, and responsive design
What I learned
Small rewards and progress visuals really motivate users to keep checking in Privacy builds trust and lowers barriers for those who need help most
