Inspiration## Inspiration
Climate change and space technology are two of the most important topics of our time. We wanted to create a platform that makes learning about Earth more interactive, visual, and intelligent. The inspiration behind Earth From Space was to combine space exploration, climate awareness, and artificial intelligence into one engaging experience.
What it does
Earth From Space is an interactive educational web platform that allows users to:
- Explore Earth’s structure and key facts
- Learn about atmosphere layers
- Understand climate change impacts
- View Earth imagery and satellite visuals
- Explore satellites and space technology
- Ask AI-powered questions about climate, satellites, and Earth science
The platform includes a Gemini-powered chatbot called Ask Earth AI, which generates intelligent, real-time responses to user questions.
How we built it
The project was built using:
- HTML for structure
- CSS for styling and animations
- JavaScript for interactivity
- Node.js and Express for backend integration
- Google Gemini API for AI-powered responses
The frontend provides a clean, modern UI with animated elements and responsive design.
The backend securely handles API requests to Gemini and returns intelligent answers to users.
Challenges we ran into
- Setting up the Node.js backend correctly
- Connecting frontend and backend properly
- Handling Gemini API errors
- Managing images and file paths
- Deploying the project and preparing it for submission
These challenges helped us understand full-stack development more deeply.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully integrating Gemini AI into a custom-built website
- Designing a visually appealing and educational platform
- Creating multiple interactive pages (Explore, Climate, Satellites, Gallery, Atmosphere)
- Building a working AI-powered chatbot

- How AI can enhance educational platforms
- Problem-solving under time pressure
What's next for Earth From Space – AI Powered Planet Explorer
In the future, we plan to:
- Add live climate data APIs
- Integrate satellite tracking visualization
- Improve AI conversational memory
- Add multilingual support
- Deploy the platform publicly for global access
Our long-term goal is to turn Earth From Space into a powerful AI-driven environmental education platform.
