Inspiration
What inspired us to combat climate change was our personal experiences with the issue. Living in California we have been exposed to the extreme weather conditions, such as the Camp Fire that recently occurred, along with fires the previous year that cause school to be closed for 3 days.
What it does
The site educates users on what climate change is and why we need to do something. The user may also choose to find out the size of their carbon footprint, discover additional information on the topic, or take action by clicking one of the options on the menu bar.
How I built it
We used HTML and CSS to design our website.
Challenges I ran into
We started off with absolutely 0 experience in coding. We weren't even able to attend the HTML workshop because there was no room. We had to learn HTML and CSS on our own.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We learned HTML and CSS in 2 and a half hours and proceeded to make our very first website. We're proud of the look of it and also being able to have different tabs/links on the website.
What I learned
Creating websites isn't as easy as it seems. Adding a menu bar takes up more 20 lines of code on its own. We also learned that every single detail counts. An extra space, or a missing semi-colon could change the entire outcome when the code runs.
What's next for Earth Day, Every Day
To continue to update its information to keep people informed of the most current impacts of climate change.
