Inspiration
We drew many ideas from the famous game "Plants Vs Zombies", taking the basic idea and revamping it with a modern take - dramatized effects of climate change and pollution on the Earth: rendering it a barren alien wasteland in the year 2099.
Challenges we ran into
For the first 2/3rds of the project, we used Godot. This was a mistake, and we ran into many frustrations with the engine. In the last 8 hours we decided to port the game into Unity, an engine only one of us is familiar with, and remake the entire game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our ability to re-write the game's code in Unity was definitely what we are most proud of, though the theme, art, and music present in-game was quite fun to make.
What we learned
Next time, we wont be using Godot. We also learned to better work as a team, and deal with the stresses that often come up when trying to meet a deadline.
What's next for EARTH 99
Earth 100, ostensibly.
