We will keep the project on the ground and move 20 cm away from it. This is the normal distance between the project and the body. If the body temperature returns to normal, the swelling may be closer to 20 cm, thus reducing the distance to less than 20 cm. This indicates the presence of swelling and is considered a preliminary assessment, as swelling may sometimes not be visible. A distance is observed on the screen, and when swelling occurs in the foot, it triggers an alarm to alert the woman. For my project, I used various electronic components, including an Arduino, an ultrasonic sensor, a buzzer, and an LCD screen. I also utilized an Arduino shield and connecting wires, programming everything using the mBlock software. One of the challenges I faced was completing the entire project in just a single day—a very short timeframe for me, and the first time I had ever finished a project so quickly. This was because I found out about the hackathon quite late. As for my achievements, I managed to complete the project in that one day, writing all the code myself. While I had worked on projects before, they were always as part of a team; this was my first time working on one entirely on my own. Furthermore, I relied solely on the materials I already had on hand—specifically, a kit I had received as a gift from a scholarship program—without needing to source any additional components. I also made a conscious effort to keep the concept simple.Given the circumstances, I didn’t source any materials from outside; I simply used what I already had on hand. This experience taught me that I am capable of completing a project in a single day—from start to finish. While finishing it in one day was a challenge, it proved that nothing is impossible. I also learned to trust in my own ideas, even if they weren’t groundbreaking or perhaps not the ones I would have chosen had I possessed more time. I realized: why not? It’s still a great idea! As for what comes next, I’d like to further develop this early-warning system—envisioning it as something as accessible and easy to use as a home blood pressure monitor or a glucose meter—so that it can be available in every household.
