Inspiration
During the pandemic, we were all compelled to shift to online schooling. A significant number of individuals expressed their frustration due to the difficulty in finding valuable learning platforms and navigating through interactive educational websites. I personally experienced this issue and aimed to prevent such challenges from arising in future circumstances. As a result, I developed a website that offers a range of beneficial learning resources, tutoring services, engaging games, and informative quizzes to enhance students' comprehension and learning abilities. By combining all these resources in one convenient location, students will find it much easier to navigate and locate the materials they require.
What it does
My responsive website offers students a wealth of resources, catering to all their academic needs. They can access renowned learning platforms such as Khan Academy and IXL, along with virtual tutoring services that are tailored to their specific requirements and come highly recommended by users. Additionally, the website features quizzes and interactive games to evaluate their progress and facilitate accelerated learning. To broaden their general knowledge, there is also a random fact generator available!
How we built it
I built my website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript!
Challenges we ran into
I encountered a challenge while developing the hangman game - I couldn't figure out how to update the drawing whenever the player guessed a wrong letter. However, with the help of some tutorials and debugging, I eventually solved the problem! Additionally, I faced another issue with the carousel of images. I had to ensure that the carousel remained intact regardless of the image sizes, and I had to figure out how to animate it to move when clicking the button.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am obviously proud of the hangman game I created, as it required a significant amount of time and effort to figure out and fine-tune the code to ensure its smooth functioning. Another aspect of my website that I am proud of is the "Learning Sources" section. I particularly love the way the curtain falls down when hovered over. It's a cool animation that, in my opinion, which complements the overall theme of the website.
What we learned
I've learned the importance of perseverance: despite how many challenges you face you shouldn't give up because you will eventually get there! This lesson speaks for my entire website development journey. Whenever one component worked, the other would not, and at times, nothing seemed to work as expected. I experienced moments of frustration, but I remained focused and determined to overcome these challenges. Along the way, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge in three languages I used and acquire other valuable information.
What's next for E-Education
E-Education is currently just for middle schoolers, but I hope to also make the website's sources accessible to elementary and high schoolers too in the future. Moreover, I hope to include more interactive quizzes (one for each grade level), and games of various difficulty levels to enhance faster learning!
