Inspiration
In a world increasingly needing help, we often do not know how to take the first step. NGOs do not have the resources to publicize their actions, and we are no longer aware of the brilliant and essential work they do. How to help them? What kind of help do they need? How to learn about new initiatives? How can I join NGOs and people who want to donate affection, help and support? How to engage other people?
There are 86,000 NGOs registered with the Canadian government, and impressively we know very little about them. e-dopt promotes the interaction necessary to strengthen people who want to contribute to a more compassionate and supportive world. At the same time, e-dopt promotes inclusion by eliminating barriers to access through an intuitive platform where people of all ages can make a big difference.
With that in mind, I created e-dopt, an online platform that easily connects you to causes that you would love to support but did not know how.
e-dopt a cause! Be a superhero to the world!
What it does
e-dopt is an online platform that easily connects who needs help and who wants to help. e-dopt promotes inclusion by eliminating complexity so that your help reaches the institutions that need you in an uncomplicated way. Children can start from an early age to practice solidarity and compassion, busy people can find the practicality they need to help, as well as senile people can help from the comfort and safety of their homes.
On e-dopt, NGOs present their actions, and you connect with them, understanding the best way to help them. You can also connect with communities related to the cause, learning more and contributing more.
According to your engagement, NGOs will recognize you as a hero of their community, granting you recognition badges so that you can proudly disseminate your actions and more people join your cause!
How we built it
The platform was built using Figma, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I registered edopt.tech through domain.com.
Challenges we ran into
This is the first hackathon I have participated in and it is challenging and rewarding at the same time. Using Figma for the first time was challenging, however, the workshop was excellent help.
The lack of personal interaction due to COVID-19 is a challenge, and I believe that this was decisive for the other group members to give up on continuing in the hackathon. This made me develop the platform on my own, and the short time available was also a big challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm really excited about my first hackathon. This is undoubtedly the first of several. Learning new technologies, tools, meeting people who are really committed to making a difference in addition to creating a project to help the world makes me proud of this journey in this hackathon.
What we learned
I learned impressive design, tools and technologies, as well as the importance of customer satisfaction and still had fun!
What's next for e-dopt
The following steps for e-dopt are to disseminate the platform among NGOs so that more and more institutions can be helped. I will also look for influencers engaged with social causes to make known the platform so that more people can contribute.
