How we built it
Inspiration Traditional e-commerce websites can feel overwhelming and static. Customers often spend too much time filtering through hundreds of products or reading endless reviews just to find exactly what they need. We wanted to revolutionize this experience by building a conversational, hyper-personalized e-commerce platform. Our inspiration was to give every single shopper their own interactive, 24/7 intelligent retail assistant using Google Cloud AI.
What it does Our project is a next-generation AI-powered E-Commerce application.
Conversational Shopping: Instead of scrolling endlessly, users can talk or chat naturally with a "Smart Retail Agent" to find items.
Smart Recommendations: The AI understands vague queries (e.g., "Show me something warm for a rainy day in London") and immediately surfaces the right products.
Instant Support: It resolves product specification doubts, compares items dynamically, and guides the user straight through a rapid checkout flow.
How we built it We combined a modern web stack with advanced cloud-based AI tools:
Frontend: Built with React.js, HTML5, and CSS3 to create a highly responsive, ultra-clean, and fluid user interface featuring premium 3D card animations.
Backend: Powered by Node.js and Express.js to handle user sessions, manage the shopping cart state, and securely handle API calls.
AI Integration: Integrated Google Cloud Vertex AI and the Rapid Agent framework. We mapped our product database catalog to the AI Agent so it can understand semantic contexts, look up real-time inventory, and answer user queries with minimal latency.
Challenges we ran into State Synchronization: It was tricky to ensure that when a user talks to the AI Agent, the item automatically updates or highlights on the React frontend in real-time. We solved this by creating a robust event-handling communication layer between our Node.js server and React components.
Latency: Reducing the time it takes for the AI Agent to process a request and reply. Optimizing our API requests on Google Cloud helped us achieve sub-second response times.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:- Creating a fully functional, end-to-end full-stack application that bridges classic web technologies (React/Node) with cutting-edge Cloud AI.
Building an intuitive, minimal, and scannable interface that works flawlessly across both desktop and mobile layouts.
