Inspiration
It is no secret that ecological issues are acute nowadays. Due to the fact that we live in an era of a rapid digital change, devices get outdated quickly and we end up having enormous amount of electronic waste.
What it does
For our project we chose to create something that will inspire people to work on the e-waste problem and learn about how to dispose unwanted devices properly. We provide people with informative articles in our blog regarding the topic and arrange a pick up of their e-waste to make the process easy and accessible for anyone.
How we built it
Once it was time to work on the project we started with designing a prototype of our website. We then split our responsibilities by coding particular parts, however, we ended up helping each other solve issues and bugs together. We used GitHub to share the code with each other through committing changes in our repository. We were working on it during the call on Discord as well as separately when time zones were a burden.
Challenges we ran into
We faced various challenges from being able to stay connected due to different time zones to sometimes making the code work and using GitHub.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Nevertheless, we managed to create a user-friendly website that delivers our mission and goals that we are extremely proud of. Despite the obstacles we stayed connected and encouraged each other through the whole hacking time accomplishing a strong sense of team work!
What we learned
We've come to the conclusion that the importance of communication should not be underestimated while working as a team. Besides we gained crucial practical skills, which we will happily continue to master
What's next for E-co Logic
Our aim is to continue spreading awareness of this crucial issue not only in Canada, but also worldwide. Most importantly, we want to make e-waste management accessible everywhere so that more and more people are encouraged to solve this problem together with us.
