Inspiration

I am a young Entrepreneur from Morocco and I always experience all types of Taxi services here in Morocco. I always face some situations and I try to provide some solutions from my side by thinking about the best practices to automate and organize the Taxi services. I also got inspired after attending 2 workshops provided by "Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy in Morocco" at my institute "International Institute for Higher Education in Morocco". From these 2 workshops I got motivated and inspired to use my creativity and imagination in bringing new ideas and new solutions to either make our life much more easier and or being a successful Entrepreneur. Since my background is Management Information Systems and Business Administration, I used my problem solving skills, my imagination and my life experience to provide some solutions to Taxi Service that I am sure this will definitely help and change the traditional Taxi life style. My job activity is in aftermarket auto spare parts. In this domain I worked in different business areas, from developing enterprise solutions, Import Export, Client Services and relationships and Stock management..., from this activity I discovered another solution that can be used to help Taxi drivers maximize their earnings and helps businesses transport their packages. My 18 months experience at TATA Consultancy Services in India broadened my mind and inspired me with different and new technologies, and from there this Taxi Application idea already got started and many other car services and technologies. I interviewed many people in India as well as in Morocco to find clever ideas in both Taxi servicing as well as car repairing services using latest technologies. All this inspired me to design a very creative and innovative business model for e-Cab to help the society.

What it does

e-Cab Application helps taxi drivers to:

  • Minimize their expenses they put into the petrol: They normally fill in petrol and start moving from here and there just randomly without having any idea where they might be able to find passengers, so this wastes just petrol.
    • Save them time & Maximize profits: Instead of just going from here and there just randomly, they can easily see where passengers are and going to them directly.
    • Minimizes health issues: I got in touch with Taxi drivers and they speak one of the most problems they face by time, which is that spending many hours driving hurts the back bone, and most of Taxi drivers usually do operations on their back because of the pain they get after spending many years driving. If they try to decrease Driving Hours will affect their earnings, so e-Cab can optimize their earnings with less Driving Hours.

e-Cab Application helps Passengers to:

  • Save time: Instead of waiting for a Taxi to come, there is a very less chance that a Taxi comes in time, and if it comes there is again a very less chance that it will be vacant, so Passengers will not be able to manage their time. Therefore, by using e-Cab, Passengers can easily and quickly get the Taxi in time.
  • Feel safe: There are many situations in which people especially girls and women when they wait for Taxi face safety issues. By using e-Cab, everyone will be safe and secure from location till destination.
  • Pay Less: e-Cab helps people to intelligently share the cabs so that the cost becomes less.

How I built it

I have used my creativity, studied the problems faced by both taxi drivers and passengers and the knowledge on the technology to come up with a solution that would deliver a better service to satisfy both taxi drivers and passengers. This is my idea that I was working on for 10 months, I already studied the Marketing side, I talked to Taxi Drivers and studied different strategies of advertising and payment methods. I discussed as well with developers from India to make this application running. Later on, I discovered this hackathon project and I would like to share my solution.

Challenges I ran into

e-Cab Application needs strong and skilled developers in different areas like: Mobile Platform - Xamarin / Cordova : Microsoft Asp.net, C#, MVC and great skills in Java, Linux as well and MongoDB, to provide its best services. It was very difficult for me to find the developers that can work with me to develop this solution here. I contacted 2 people "Rashan Smith", "Dipesh KC" and "seth ketsi" and I shared my idea with them, I provided them with almost all the business model of this Application but then they disappeared with no feedback. I assumed that people are just taking others' ideas and leave.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud of coming up and designing the most creative solution by going through different scenarios that would make the Application process all of its activities. I am proud of the fact that my solution is very different from any other to answer the real life taxi service challenges in Morocco because I am not bound only with technology and imagination, but also with Taxi drivers suggestions, challenges they face and expectations from this solution.

What I learned

After all the efforts that I have put into this Application, I learned that such Application requires an interrelated team for a better performance and success. I learned that keeping myself focused on the solution and its future use, along with cooperating with a strict and intelligent team, would make the target easier.

What's next for e-Cab

Morocco is a developing country and it is getting pushed by technology to move forward. Morocco is already having a Renault plant in the north for cars production, and today's government project is to replace all old Taxis which are mainly Mercedes of old types like 240, 190, 250.. by new Renault brand. This is making the usage much more comfortable for passengers and environment friendly. All these changes and others would bring very intelligent car systems especially navigation systems to make the e-Cab much more friendly and effective. New cars would use the IPV6 and connect to each others, or use the Telematics system to make the Taxi service much more innovative, and here we are getting to Artificial Intelligence. The next that would come first is what I called "PTS - Package Transferring Service", this service is very clever in terms of package delivering inside the city. My domain is car parts distribution all over Morocco and this idea is gradually being used but I thought of some intelligent solution to be able to track and other.
