I saw this as an opportunity to utilize my skills and possibly contribute towards reducing a bit of stress from the lives of thousands of parents out there who are already making tremendous efforts to provide a better life for their children.
What it does
It is an intuitive application process for the USDA National School Lunch Program
How I built it
I used Python Django framework for the frontend and SQLlite as the backend. Django is an excellent framework for rapid development of large websites.
Challenges I ran into
Certain scenarios in the application process were bit tricky to understand and implement, but I was able to clarify them during the online webinars and through community discussions.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud of the overall design of my application, not only aesthetics but the back-end design as well.
What I learned
Behind the scenes challenges, from the administrative stand point, in providing free or reduced price lunch to kids.
What's next for E.A.T. School Lunch UX
looking forward to see what ideas others have come up with and the results of the hackathon
