Dyslexia Helper

Inspiration

Dyslexia is a very common learning disability(that makes it hard to read and understand). About 5-10 percent of people have it and approximately 17% of people around the globe have reading challenges similar to people with dyslexia as well. Additionally, several of my little brother’s friends have dyslexia and I have noticed that they are struggling in remote learning. So, I came up with a solution to help them along with other children with dyslexia.

What it does

Dyslexia Helper is a web app which implements features (that are statistically proven) to help children with dyslexia. The features we have included are reciteIT, posture corrector and text changer.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS, and JS to build the website.

We made text-to-speech and speech-to-text features in JS for the recite it.

We used tensorflow for the posture corrector machine learning

We used Python, HTML, and Flask to build the chat bot.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of creating so many features in the limited time and creating a full working webapp!

What we learned

We learned how we can create a chat bot and we also learned how to use Flask as well as tensorflow.

What's next for Dyslexia Helper

In the future Dyslexia Helper hopes to add more features and implement an API which will allow users to hover over specific words and receive more information about them. Additionally, we also hope to improve our UI.
