Inspiration💡
This project comes from a friend grappling with dysgraphia, a learning disorder that significantly impairs the ability to write legibly, creating barriers to self-expression and effective communication. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for this condition, and students face challenges during their educational journey. Witnessing my friend's ignited a passion to address this issue.
The mission of the app is easy: to help individuals with dysgraphia through seamlessly convert typed text into personalized handwriting. By making a bridge between technology and education, this innovative tool aims to enhance self-esteem, improve communication, and foster inclusivity. Through this project, my goal is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students confronting this often-overlooked challenge.
What it does🚀
This program converts your computer-typed text into your own handwriting and offers the option to print it out. It uses ink and emulates your handwriting to provide a virtually identical replica of your handwriting.
How we built it🏗️
I used several languages to bring this project to life, including the Python OS module, the Python Pillow library, Python Flask, and a blend of HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into💥
The primary challenge encountered during development was ensuring that the generated handwritten content aligns perfectly with lined paper, even when accommodating varying text lengths. Additionally, striking the right balance in the user interface design, where it's neither bright and colorful nor overly dull, was another challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of🏆
One of the most significant achievements of this project is its potential to alleviate the struggles of numerous students globally, which brings me pride.
What we learned 🎓
A big part of my learning journey revolved around learning the Pillow library from scratch. Dedication to countless hours to understand the basics paid off in the completion of the web app.
What's next for Dysgraphia web app🔮
The future of the Dysgraphia Web App holds exciting prospects. Building upon the foundation of personalized handwriting, I am committed to continuously enhancing the user experience and expanding its capabilities. There are plans to make the app accessible over the internet, enabling users from all corners of the world to benefit from it. Additionally, I am exploring the integration of machine learning to automate text detection and mapping from images, eliminating the need for manual template uploads.
