DYP

Inspiration

We got our inspiration from our experience in high school dealing with a lack of volunteering opportunities. We decided that there were not enough of out of high school volunteering opportunities for the students to get involved in. We also wanted to help organizations and volunteers have a well-organized app where they can figure out things to do.

What it does

Our app allows organizations to post listings for volunteering opportunities for the community. Volunteers are able to see potential volunteering around them. It also allows the volunteer to track all the hours of volunteering they have done.

How we built it

We built our app using React Native and created a database to store our volunteering information.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues trying to populate our database. We also ran into small problems dealing with the syntax while using React Native.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of us learning a new language for most of us. We are proud of the teamwork we had.

What we learned

We learned the basics and more about React Native. We learned how to delegate work to each other while also trying to help each other out.

What's next for DYP

We want to incorporate the database so the app is more functional. We also want the organizations to be able to login separately.
