Inspiration
The idea of Dynor League came from my love for the futuristic/cyberpunk aesthetic along with my love for just attending sport events. So the idea of blending the two and adding a dystopian lore behind the world itself came very naturally to me.
What it does
Dynor League was created so that gamers and non gamers can have a place to coexist in the same world together. Just how an audience loves to attend their favorite team events! In Dynor League contestants compete in a game of Dynor 'which is a variation of ball tag' where each arena has it's own rules and twist to keep the contestants engaged BUT I also wanted to give the audience members who are there mainly to just talk to their friends, the option of being involved as well. So audience member can also press buttons while in the stands, triggering different arena hazards for the contestants to deal with.
How we built it
All of the 3d assets and texturing were done by me with a combination of 3ds max for the models and Adobe Photoshop for the texturing. I did use chat gpt for the 2d art of the sponsor banners and arena banner to try and help save on time! Along with zapsplat for the royalty free theme music I'm currently using.
Challenges we ran into
As a new solo first time Meta World builder, my list of Challenges seem almost endless but some of the main challenges that stuck out to me would have to be. Learning the programming language and Figuring out the limitations of Horizon World, while changing my world to work around them while maintaining the same vision I had for it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I would honestly say just managing to have something to submit in time! haha
The aesthetics and lore/background of the world itself would definitely be one of my proudest things! I feel like I was really able to convey that in the world isn't, creating a very cohesive world.
Also, for some reason I just REALLY like the big scoreboards I added that allows the audience to keep track of everything! haha :)
It's the little things like that I feel helps capture the feeling of watching an event I feel.
What we learned
I've learned SO much over the past two months I truly wouldn't even know where to start.
What's next for Dynor League
My future goals for Dynor League would be to add some good unique AI that gives the impression of a full world and can serve as contestants AND audience members. I would incorporate it so that they would de-spawned as more real players entered the world. So that players who actually prefer single player games and just playing alone can also still enjoy this world I've created to the fullest. Without feeling like they're missing out on anything. I would also like to finish updating the world and presentation of it to reflex more of the lore and sport type event.
