Inspiration and Future
I absolutely love it when things come to like and I envision Dynamic to become a learning tool that anybody with a phone could download! I hope that it excites and helps visual learners to get excited about any material, and take pictures anywhere and see things come to life.
What it does
Recognizes and categorizes images taken by users and render augmented reality 3D models dynamically on their phones through machine-learning tools. Just take a picture of any cat and BAM, you have a 3D cat right on top of it! Take a picture of the heart, and BAM a 3D rendering of a heart! Rotate the object you took a picture of or move your phone to see every part of the model! It's like the object was always there!
How I built it
I used Azure's Cognitive Services tools to categorize images and analyze confidence levels to ensure that the correct model is being rendered based on the image taken. If it gets to a low threshold it will not render an image. Unity was used for the entire project!
Challenges I ran into
Getting my application to recognize the proper objects (tiger vs. a cat), taking pictures with Unity and the end to end flow was not as straight forward as I thought.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Being able to get people excited about learning and education, and frankly building something that I've always wanted to have.
