What it does
The front-facing application shows drivers upcoming buses coming to their closest bus route. Driver-facing client to immediately notify app users about delays.
How we built it
We used react-native with Expo and Mapview to set up a live map. We ended up implementing the MERN stack to leverage to easily store and access both the static and real-time data.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered many problems attempting to analyze the live data, which made us end up doing a backend with mongoDB and node,js. We also had difficulties accessing data through the back end to dynamically update the front end.
What we learned
We learned to prioritize minimal viable products over ideal aspirations of what we wanted the end outcome to be since we were under strict time constraints.
What's next for Durham region transit Driver Dashboard
Fully implementing the features we set out to and having better map features for users.
