Inspiration

DUN DEFENDERS: Save the Signal comes from a very personal place. As an XR creator, community builder, and creator of the DUN Arcade series, I’ve spent years trying to help people see the magic in immersive technology, spatial computing, and the metaverse.

But creating online also means dealing with noise! The "Noise" is online negativity, misinformation, burnout, trolls, and the constant pressure to be seen. I wanted to turn that real creator experience into something fun, hopeful, and empowering.

What it is

DUN DEFENDERS is a mobile-first tower-defense strategy concept set in a neon, creator-powered metaverse district. At its heart, the game is about protecting creativity, defending community, and restoring a world that has been disrupted by “The Noise.”

The fantasy is simple: when the signal gets attacked, you don’t give up ! You build, adapt, defend, and bring the light back.

Why it matters to me

This project feels like something only I would make. It carries the energy of DUN Arcade, the mission of Getting Things Dun, and the heart behind Get’Em To The Metaverse. I wanted it to feel bold, colorful, accessible, and instantly understandable, but also meaningful underneath.

To me, the metaverse is not just technology. It is people, creativity, culture, representation, and connection. DUN DEFENDERS is my way of turning that belief into a game.

How I approached it

For this submission, I created a complete judged design package: a Game Design Document, Player Journey Map, Visual Concept Package, and Production Plan. I focused on making the project feel original, readable, production-aware, and emotionally connected to the world it represents.

What I learned

This process taught me how much stronger a game becomes when every part of the design supports the same core feeling. Systems, visuals, player emotion, and production scope all have to work together. A great idea is not enough! The design has to be clear, buildable, and memorable.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was balancing ambition with feasibility. I wanted DUN DEFENDERS to feel visually exciting and full of personality, but still focused enough to become a real first build. That meant protecting the heart of the idea while being honest about what should stay in scope.

The full game design details are included in the attached judge-facing PDFs.
