Inspiration

The inspiration behind Dump Cart stems from the pressing waste management challenges faced in densely populated areas, particularly in India, where irregular garbage collection schedules lead to unsightly, unhygienic surroundings. The chaos created by missed pickups and waste piling up on streets motivated us to create a solution to bring transparency, improve accountability, and help maintain cleaner urban spaces.

What it does

Dump Cart is a mobile application that tracks garbage trucks in real-time, allowing users to see when their area’s waste will be picked up. The app features a dynamic calendar that highlights both regular and exceptional pickup dates, offering full transparency of the collection schedule. In case of a missed pickup, users can submit complaints to local authorities, ensuring accountability and timely resolution. Through these features, Dump Cart works to reduce pollution, foster cleaner surroundings, and promote sustainable urban development.

How we built it

We developed Dump Cart by integrating real-time tracking for garbage trucks, a dynamic calendar for waste pickup schedules, and an efficient complaint submission system. By leveraging GPS and data synchronization, we ensured users are alerted of any schedule changes or delays. The app also sends notifications to keep users updated on any exceptional collection dates or issues with pickups.
